The CAAA is Open for Business During COVID-19 Disruption: With the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we find ourselves in a time of unprecedented uncertainty across the country and the world as a whole. Please know that the CAAA is still here, working for you and sharing information as it is available! The CAAA staff and Board continue to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm MDT, and is available through email as the office has closed for the time being. Transport Canada issued an update on March 17, 2020 stating that all persons who currently hold a valid Transport Canada aviation Medical Certificate (MC) expiring on or before June 1st, 2020 may continue to exercise the privileges of their permits, licenses, or ratings until August 1st, 2020 subject to the conditions listed in the Exemption notice dated 17 March 2020. Furthermore, no medical examinations for new aviation MCs will be conducted until at least May 1st, 2020. More Information

CAAA has sent letters to Agriculture and Health Ministers at the federal and provincial levels clarifying our role as an essential service. As we move forward in our communication with the government(s), we will work to keep our membership informed. Impact on Temporary Foreign Workers due to COVID-19

On March 27, 2020 Immigration Canada clarified exemptions to the Travel Ban Exemptions that allow for certain temporary foreign workers to travel to Canada. Workers outside Canada holding a valid work permit or those approved for work permits prior to the travel bans coming into effect may now travel to Canada. The travel ban exemption also applies to new workers coming to Canada in critical industries such as agriculture, food processing, health, transportation and emergency services.

The CAAA office is working to see how these changes apply to agriculture aircraft and the aerial application industry. More Information

Farm Credit Canada Introduces Covid-19 Support Program

To ensure producers, agribusinesses and food processors can remain focused on business-critical functions rather than worrying about how to access funds to keep operating through this challenging period, effective immediately, FCC has put in place:

  • a deferral of principal and interest payments up to six months for existing loans; or

  • a deferral of principal payments up to 12 months

  • access to an additional credit line up to $500,000, secured by general security agreements or universal movable hypothec (Québec only)
